Accessibility
We are committed to making visits to St Katharine Cree as accessible as possible. However, due to the historic nature of the building, there are unfortunately currently some limitations:
-
Step-free access is limited;
-
Some areas are not wheelchair accessible;
-
No accessible toilet is currently available.
More details are available below to help you plan your visit. We are currently working towards a redevelopment of the building which will significantly approve the accessibility of the building. If you have specific access requirements or would like to discuss your visit in advance, please get in touch and we will do our best to accommodate your needs. Email us at office@stkatharinecree.org
Getting Here
There is no on-site parking available. However, the number 25 bus stops directly outside the church, providing convenient access by public transport. The nearest Tube station is Aldgate which is approximately 4 minutes away.
Access to the Church
There are three steps with a handrail leading into the church through wide double doors. A moveable ramp is available—please let us know in advance if you will require this assistance (contact details at the bottom of the page). Inside the church, there is an additional step (without a handrail) leading to the north part of the building. Please note that the entire church can still be viewed from the main level area. The Church has good lighting levels and is rarely crowded or noisy outside of events or services. There is plenty of seating. We have a hearing loop available. Guide dogs are welcome.
Access to the Hall and Courtyard Garden
The Hall is located behind the Church and access involves four steps with a handrail. To access the Garden from the Hall then involves four steps up and one step down, also with handrails. Doorways to these areas are of standard width and are unfortunately likely too narrow for wheelchair access. Due to the steepness of the steps, it is not possible to safely use a ramp in these areas.
Toilets
We regret that there is currently no accessible toilet on site. The nearest accessible facilities are located at Fenchurch Street Station.
